DEPED TO HIRE OVER 7K ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT STAFF
The Department of Education (DepEd) plans to renew and hire 7,062 school-based Administrative Support Staff under Contract of Service (CoS) across qualified public schools nationwide, in keeping with the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s commitment to supporting educators.
The policy complies with Section 002 of DepEd Order No. 2024, which requires public school teachers to immediately stop handling administrative duties, and DepEd Order No. 005, s. 2024, which offers standards for paying instructors for teaching overload and rationalizes their workload.
To pay for these employees' salary, DepEd has set aside extra money for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE). The current regional minimum salary multiplied by 22 working days per month will be used to determine compensation. A 12.5% surcharge is also included in the contract and will be paid in installments.
CoS staff will support school operations, including report preparation, program and activity coordination, and other clerical duties delegated by the school head, in accordance with the hiring and renewal requirements.

Candidates must possess a minimum of a senior high school degree and fundamental administrative abilities, such as being able to use office equipment and being proficient in Microsoft Office. No prior training or work experience is necessary.
In order to be eligible for renewal, current CoS employees must have fulfilled performance standards as stated in their Terms of Reference and as assessed by their individual Schools Division Offices (SDOs). School heads and SDOs will interview new personnel and assess their qualifications as part of the selection process.
Sec. Angara is still dedicated to enhancing teacher working conditions and making sure schools run smoothly. By continuing this effort, the Department confirms its commitment to bolstering the educational system, acknowledging that teachers can provide the finest instruction for children when they are not burdened with administrative duties.
