DEPED TO FILL VACANT TEACHING POSTS ASAP
DEPED notifies department offices to hire enough teachers
The Department of Education has issued a memorandum of understanding to guide the hiring of public school teachers.
DepEd Memorandum #76 states that vacancies will be filled by August 31st.
The ministry also reminded school departments that teacher selection should be based on the principles of "merit, suitability, competence, fairness, transparency and accountability."
As a nonpartisan organization, DepEd is open to referrals from anyone, but that doesn't mean they have an advantage, as the hiring process must be "competence-based."
DepEd has also issued a separate memorandum regarding the calculation of teachers' proportional leave allowances for the 2021-2022 school year.
The 2022-2023 school year started last week. Many schools are introducing face-to-face classes, but the full introduction he will take place in November. Some of the challenges of the first week of classes are that some schools lack classrooms, chairs and teachers.
