SEN. GATCHALIAN PENS EDCOM II INTO LAW

Win Gatchalian said.

A new law that aims to establish the Second Congressional Commission on Education, or EDCOM II, was praised by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Thursday.

Gatchalian hailed the development as a major advance in resolving the nation's problem in education.

The EDCOM II was established by Republic Act 11899, which became effective on July 23. Its purpose is to conduct a thorough national assessment and review of the performance of the Philippine education sector.

To make the Philippines competitive on the world stage in both the education and labor sectors, the national evaluation will offer revolutionary, practical, and focused reforms.\Additionally, it will make recommendations for precise, time-bound, and targeted solutions to help educational institutions deliver accessible, inclusive, high-quality instruction that meets international standards.

Gatchalian will serve as one of the commission's co-chairs and chair the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts, and Culture.
