Next Educ. Chief Duterte to Uplift the Quality of Philippine Education

Duterte believes that quality education is the backbone of good employment, thus her goal of enhancing it, including skills training to boost competencies.

Mayor Christina Frasco, the spokesperson of presumptive vice president Sara Z. Duterte said Duterte would uplift the quality of education in the country.

Kapag sinabi nating edukasyon, hindi lang po college degree 'yun. Kasama na ang skills training doon dahil marami naman ang hindi kailangan ng college degree na trabaho (Education doesn’t only mean a college degree. It should include skills training because you can be employed even without a degree),” she said.

When Duterte's track record as would- be DepEd chief was questioned, her spokesperson responded“Beyond theoretical ideas of managing the education sector, which seems to be the extent of Senator Hontiveros’ preferred qualifications for DepEd Secretary, VP-elect Sara will certainly bring to the DepEd actual performance and solution-oriented leadership necessary to uplift the quality of education in our country.”

Marcos said one of the reasons he appointed Duterte as the next education secretary is her role as a mother who wants to "make sure that her children are well-trained and well-educated.”
