6 HRS. WORKDAY FOR TEACHERS, PUSHED

6 HRS. WORKDAY FOR TEACHERS, PUSHED

TEACHERS' Dignity Coalition urged uniform working hours for teachers in Department of Education after reports that some teachers have to work more than 6 hours or have to stay in school and work more than 8 hours.

The group said the schools were in violation of the Department of Education's guidelines.  It demanded the education agency to order its field officials to abide by the rules set forth by the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers, Civil Service Commission Resolutions and several DepEd issuances.

Basas revealed that many teachers report excessive workload and extended class hours.

In 2008, CSC issued Resolution 080096, directing DepEd to issue a "6 hours a day" policy.

Basas said.
