DEPED GIVES 674 TEACHING POSITIONS FOR DOST SCHOLARS
More than 670 teaching positions for graduates of the Department of Science and Technology’s Science Education Institute was allotted by the department of Education.
DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said, “For Fiscal Year 2021, a total of 674 teaching positions have been allocated by the DepEd for the DOST scholar-graduates. These scholars are set to start their service by August or before the opening of classes.”
“As of October 28, 2020, the DepEd has created 3,319 Special Science Teacher I position to cater the graduates of the Junior Level Science Scholarship under RA No. 10612 or the “Fast-Tracked Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 2013. This covers the School Year 2016-2017 until SY 2020-2021,” he added.
The DOST supports the implementation of the K-12 law by developing a pool of scholar-graduates who can competently teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the secondary education, particularly in senior high school.
The DOST chief said that the endorsement of scholars shall come from the SEI based on the actual number of graduates.
“The appointment of these scholars shall be on provisional status, under the condition that they must pass the LET within the first five years if they opt to continue teaching in DepEd after fulfilling their service obligation,” De La Peña said.
