GOOD NEWS: 5k Cash Allowance Update as of June 17, 2021

In case you missed the update made by Usec. Annalyn M. Sevilla, read here:

Education Secretary Leonor Briones has allowed the early release of the P5,000 Cash Allowance (CA) to eligible teachers even before the School Year (SY) 2021-2022 officially starts.

DepEd Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla, in a Facebook post on Thursday, June 17, confirmed this and posted a copy of OUF Memorandum 2021-0412 or the “Advisory on the Processing and Payment of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Cash Allowance to Teachers.”
“The P5,000 cash allowance for implementing units of the Department which have available cash allocation may be now released/paid to eligible teachers,” Sevilla said in the said memorandum dated June 15, 2021.
Citing DBM and DepEd Joint Circular No. 2 s. of 2021, Sevilla explained that the cash allowance “shall be given to entitled public school teachers not earlier than the start of every school year (SY), as stipulated in annual issuance of the School Calendar, or as may be decided by the Education Secretary or his/her designated authority in cases of emergency situations.”
However, Sevilla said that that SY 2021-2022 School Calendar is “yet to be approved” by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and President Duterte.
Thus, in the “exigency of service of the entire teaching workforce to deliver basic public education services during national crisis or pandemic,” Briones has decided to allow the early release of the said benefit to public school teachers that are eligible.
DepEd said that eligible classroom teachers will receive a P5,000 cash allowance intended for the purchase of teaching supplies and materials, tangible or intangible; for the conduct of various modes of learning, internet, and other communication expenses; and for their annual medical examination expenses.
