MODIFIED CAREER PROGRESSION OF TEACHERS AND SCHOOL HEADS

 

     The Expanded Career Progression System (ECPS) for public school teachers in the Philippines offers two main career paths: Classroom Teaching (CT) and School Administration (SA)Teachers can choose to progress within either path, or even switch between them. This system aims to provide a clearer, more structured career advancement for teachers, leading to increased motivation, higher salaries, and improved quality of education. 









    Classroom Teaching (CT) Career Line:
    • Master Teacher Levels:
      The CT career line includes positions ranging from Teacher 1 to Master Teacher V. 
    • Promotion to Master Teacher:
      To advance to Master Teacher levels, teachers must meet specific criteria, which include demonstrating highly proficient teaching abilities and completing professional development programs. 
    • Increased Stature and Compensation:
      Progression through the CT career line provides increased stature and compensation, acknowledging the value of teaching expertise. 
    School Administration (SA) Career Line:

    • School Principal Positions:
      The SA career line includes School Principal I through School Principal IV.
    • Leadership Roles:
      Teachers who choose the SA path can move into leadership roles within schools, contributing to school management and improvement.
    • Transition from Classroom to Administration:
      Teachers who meet the qualifications for Master Teacher I can choose to transition into school administration. 
    • Key Features of the ECPS:
      • Professional Development:
        The ECPS emphasizes professional development for teachers, with specific programs designed to support their advancement. 
      • Meritocracy and Competence:
        The system aims to promote teachers based on their merit and demonstrated competence, rather than solely on seniority. 
      • Standardized Qualifications:
        The Department of Education (DepEd) works with other agencies to standardize qualifications for teaching positions across all levels of basic education. 
      • Enhanced Motivation and Job Satisfaction:
        By providing clear career paths and opportunities for advancement, the ECPS aims to enhance teacher motivation and job satisfaction, contributing to the quality of education. 
      • Reclassification Processes:
        The Department of Education (DepEd) will reinforce reclassification processes to allow teachers to progress based on merit and competence.
